The common denominator for all the cooperating partners is the strong research interest in the cognitive aspects of human auditory processes. The central question is how language, music, and environmental sounds that carry information are processed by the brain. The specific projects can be assigned to the basic research.

International laboratories leaders in the auditory fields of cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, and music psychology participate in this consortium. Post-graduate students will therefore have the unique chance to work closely together with experts from thematically related research fields, such as ontogeny of the auditory system, development of language, music cognition, as well as being able to research the neural basis of artistic perception with behavioral, electrophysiological, and imaging measurement techniques.
