My project aims to
integrate Omics data on lipid peroxidation
products (LPPs) and their protein adducts into
systems medicine view on obesity and related
complications. I will use clinical and Omics
data for statistical evaluation, networks
analysis and mathematical modeling to understand
a role of oxidative stress and LPPs in disease
onset and progression. We are constantly
collecting data from our experiments as well as
publically available datasets on various LPPs to
be integrated in LPPdb, a first knowledge
database on oxidized lipids. LPPdb will provide
a platform to scientists from academia, clinics
and industry to support the identification of
different LPP species form high-throughput
lipidomics for biomarker discovery and
validation and thus help to determine "biomarker
signatures" to assess pathological processes.
Furthermore, we are working on development and
optimization of software tools for
high-throughput identification of oxidized
lipids from LC-MS/MS data.
