Activities of DDGLC

The project was inaugurated with the International Conference on Linguistic Borrowing into Coptic (Leipzig, 26-28 April 2010), which brought together Copticists and general linguists, especially experts on contact linguistics and typologists. The goal of this meeting was twofold: on one hand, to make linguists aware of a case of extensive and well-attested lexical borrowing in a situation of stable bilingualism, and on the other, to make Copticists aware of current empirical and theoretical research in language contact and borrowing.

The 'DDGLC Explorations in Coptology' is a series of presentations that are organized by the DDGLC project, given mainly by visiting researchers as well as project members.
