The oncogene SATB1

The modulator of transcription SATB1

The Special AT-rich Binding Protein 1 (SATB1) belongs to a class of DNA-binding proteins and regulates the transcription of a wide variety of genes. Recently, SATB1 has been connected to tumorigenesis. SATB1 is upregulated in breast carcinoma and other tumors.

This project aims at elucidating the functional relevance of SATB1 in tumor growth and metastasis in vitro and in vivo. This includes the analysis of RNAi-meditated knockdown effects on tumor cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration and invasion, and on the growth and metastasis of tumor xenografts in vivo.
