G proteins in lung cancer

Analysis of Galpha 12- and Galpha 13-dependent signal transduction pathways

The neuropeptide-induced proliferation of lung carcinoma cells relies on the parallel activation of Gq/11- and G12/13-dependent signal transduction pathways. The individual contribution of these pathways, however, is so far unknown. This project aims at the biochemical characterization of G12/13-dependent intracellular mechanisms in lung carcinoma cells, and on the development of novel treatment strategies based on specific gene knockdown.
