Keynote Session VI  From innovation to product

Chemical and mechanical aspects in designing regenerative implants

Prof. Dr. Joachim Rychly

University of Rostock

Universitätsmedizin Rostock
Arbeitsbereich Zellbiologie
Schillingallee 69
18057 Rostock

Joachim Rychly earned his diploma degree in biology at the Rostock University. His started his scientific career in animal physiology in which he received the doctor degree in 1976. In 1979 he moved to the Medical Faculty at the Rostock University to focus his research in cell biology. Since 2000 cell adhesive interactions with biomaterials represent a main field of research. In collaboration with industrial companies the aim is to explore cell biological aspects in designing bioactive implants. Until 2013 he was the head of the Cell Biological Laboratory and the Administrative Director of the Centre for Medical Research at the Medical Faculty. Since 2003 he has been organizing the Symposium “Interface Biology of Implants” in Rostock-Warnemünde.
