(Bio)Functional Surfaces & Coatings

The Abel group at the University of Leipzig (Wilhelm-Ostwald-Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry and Institute of Chemical Technology) is engaged in applied research in the field of polymer coatings and coating technology. We develop smart coating for industrial appliactions with self-cleaning, self-healing or otherwise tailored smart features according to the needs of industry. 

We also develop and investigate bio-active surfaces (flat surfaces, nanoparticles or porous systems) and coatings from a fundamental point of view (such as deseases like Alzheimer's disease) or for sensoric applications.
