SANDiE Partner P06

Lunds Universitet, Sweden

Within the first 18 months of SANDiE-work Lund University (LU) was active mainly within the task-forces M (growth and materials), S (structure and characterization), O (optics) and T (transport) and leading in workpackage 7 (people integration) and workpackage 13 (JPR-novel SAN).

Highlights to be mentioned:

  • Within task-force M Lund University has focused on growth and characterization of one-dimensional nanostructures and started a joint project together with Johannes Kepler University Linz (P18) about Au-free growth of one-dimensional nanostructures and their characterization. Preliminary output: one diploma work, contributions to 2 publications and 1 presentation at the European Workshop MOVPE in June 2005.
  • Within task-force S Lund University started cooperation with KU Leuven (P2). One phd-student from Leuven was using the STM-facilities in the Synchrotronradiation group at LU for 3 months for measurements at self-assembled dot structures and nanowires. Publication under preparation.
  • Within task-force T Lund University started cooperation with Uni Leipzig (P1). One phd-student from Uni Leipzig was using the facilities and experience at LU to measure the conductivity of ZnO nanowires grown at Uni Leipzig.
  • Within task-force O contacts to various partners (P16, P26) have been started.

Trend in Lund University for future work is to concentrate on mainly one-dimensional nanostructures and to spread experience and to initiate more cooperation in this field within NoE SANDiE. For autumn 2005 a workshop (organized by Lund University together with IP NODE) is planned, main agenda is growth and characterization of one-dimensional nanostructures.
