SANDiE Partner P18

Johannes Kepler Universität Linz, Austria

The University of Linz is involved in the growth of SANs, in particular of PbSe and PbTe islands and island superlattices on PbTe pseudosubstrates. An important issue here is the investigation of exchange reactions between Se and Te during growth.

Furthermore, in a collaboration with the University of Lund (P6), an Au-free growth mode of InAs nanowires on InP(111) substrates has been developed in a joint master thesis; first results exist also on the growth on InAs nanowires on Si(001) substrates.

The second major research activity is the structural characterization of SANs by x-ray diffraction techniques. Here, numerous studies on samples provided by SANDiE partners are conducted. In particular, the collaborations with P6 (University of Lund) and P23 (MPI Stuttgart) are very fruitful. Furthermore we will start a collaboration with the University of Eindhoven (P7). In order to further the analysis of x-ray diffraction data, the collaboration with partners from new member states, in particular in the Czech Republic (Charles University Prague and Masaryk University Brno), has been intensified.
