During the reporting period Ioffe institute conducted a research activity mainly in a field of self-assembled quantum dots (SAQDs) for long emission wavelength suitable for optical fiber communication. The activities are listed in below.

SAQDs emitting near 1.3µm (pseudomorphic quantum dots)

  • Modeling of excitation dependence of photoluminescence spectra in pseudomorphic self-organized quantum dots (Optical characterization (O))
  • Growth and study of pseudomorphic SAQDs covered with AlAs/InAlAs thin layers (Advanced materials preparation (M); Optical characterization (O))
  • Fabrication and study of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (Advanced materials preparation (M); Device research (D))

SAQDs emitting near 1.5µm (metamorphic QD structures and nitrogen-containing structures)

  • Growth and characterization of metamorphic QDs with different capping material (Advanced materials preparation (M); Structural characterization (S); Optical characterization (O))
  • Fabrication and study of high-power long-wavelength lasers based on metamorphic SAQDs (Advanced materials preparation (M); Device research (D))
  • Growth and characterization of InGaAsN structures with InAs monolayer insertions (Advanced materials preparation (M); Optical characterization (O))

A research activity was also conducted in framework of the WP13 in a field self-assembled nanoobjects.
