(written by Katharina Reichert, Leipzig University Magazin 16.03.2022) So-called G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) form the largest group of membrane receptors and determine almost all physiological processes in the human body. Further understanding and deciphering the signaling pathways and communication structure within cells is the research goal of Andreas Bock, Professor of Molecular Pharmacology, who was appointed in January. His recent discovery of nano-architectures within the cell could open the way for entirely new active ingredients and fields of research. In this interview, Professor Bock talks about his fascination with the experimental subject of pharmacology and how he also wants to share this with students.
