Transformation of Spatial Order(s): Historical Narratives, Heuristic Approaches, or Systematic Analysis?

Roundtable Organized by Geert Castryck (SFB 1199) & Jens Herpolsheimer (SFB 1199)

The colloquium provides a forum for a joint discussion with the Roundtable “Transformation of Spatial Order(s): Historical Narratives, Heuristic Approaches, or Systematic Analysis?”, organized by Geert Castryck and Jens Herpolsheimer. Here, the question is in the focus, of how to conceptualize and operationalize the category of ‘spatial order’ within the research at the Collaborative Research Centre ‘Processes of Spatialization under the Global Condition’ (SFB 1199).
In the transition from a first to an aspired second phase of the SFB and in preparation of the final annual conference of this first phase, scheduled to be dedicated to spatial orders, it is worthwhile to take stock of the ways in which spatial orders have been conceptualized and operationalized so far, and how these ways relate to each other.
