David Motadel is an associate professor of international history at the London School of Economics and Political Science, working on the history of modern Europe and its entanglements with the wider world. He has published on the history of Muslims under German rule in the Second World War and on Islam in the European empires. He currently works among other things on a comparative study of the European empires in the era of the Second World War, addressing how colonized peoples were involved in the conflict, and how this has reconfigured Europe’s relations with the world.
