Critical Whiteness in Academia

Natasha A. Kelly

On Friday, 11th November Natasha A. Kelly will join us to work on and discuss Critical Whiteness in Academia. A hotly debated concept that gets praised by some, condemned by others. In this Workshop we will try and get on track of what this approach could and should achieve for politics and the society as a whole but also for academia more specifically.

Natasha A. Kelly holds a PhD in communication studies and sociology. Next to her scholarly work she also authored numerous books and is an artist. Her award-winning documentary “Millis Erwachen” premiered at the Biennale in Berlin in 2018, a year later she had her debut as a director with the adaptation of her dissertation titled “Afrokultur”. In 2021 she published “Rassismus: Strukturelle Probleme brauchen strukturelle Lösungen” and “Sisters and Souls“.

The number of participants for this workshop is limited. Please write an email to Rüdiger Lauberbach if you are interested in joining.
