The “Iron Curtain” between Static Spaces and Fluid Networks. Exclusion and (Re)Connection, 1960–2010

In addressing the “Iron Curtain” between 1960 and 2010, the project seeks to analyse how infrastructures and spaces of circulation have been first interrupted and then restored. To be connected to or excluded from infrastructures is a crucial motivation for various spatial entrepreneurs as well as a political and social imperative in the creation of spatial formats. For this has historically been a unique test arrangement to qualify the intrinsic logic of getting connected or getting excluded, which allows specific forms of spatialization to be discussed.
