Expertise
Inorganic and organometallic chemistry; organophosphorus compounds; unsaturated main-group compounds; strained heterocycles; anionic clusters of the elements of groups 14 and 15.
Equipment
Extensive laboratory equipment for the manipulation of air- and moisture sensitive compounds including Schlenk-lines and gloveboxes. Access to departmental analytical instrumentation including:
• Two Oxford Diffraction dual-source SuperNova diffractometers;
• Two Nonius Kappa CCD instruments;
• Twelve solution and two solid-state FT NMR instruments (proton operating frequencies
ranging between 200 and 700 MHz);
• Five X-ray powder diffractometers (including two high-resolution instruments: PANalytical
X’pert Pro and Philips PW1729);
• Three Bruker EPR spectrometers (EMXmicro: X-band CW; E580: X-/Q-band CW/pulsed;
E680: X-/W-band CW/Pulsed);
• Extensive mass-spectrometric facilities.
