Prof Robert Barnet

Dr Robert Barnett (SOAS) is the PI from the UK side. He is a political analyst and historian of modern Tibet who founded the Modern Tibetan Studies programme at Columbia University, which he directed from 1999–2017. He is a leading figure in modern Tibetan history, policy studies, and news analysis relating to Tibet and has coordinated projects developing NLP for Tibetan, Mongolian and Uyghur. He leads the project’s NER procedures, the analysis of datasets, supervision of the PDRA, and studies based on the NER datasets.
