Active Materials (System Lab)

Our research focus

Core technologies for design and synthesis of active materials are continueously developed and expanded to be used in new active matter applications.

Current topics involve:

  • nanoparticle synthesis for plasmonic sensing
  • microfluidic synthesis of hydrogel microparticles
  • responsive (bio-)polymers for nanovalves
  • 3D biopolymer scaffolds for tissue engineering and biomedical cell culture and diagnostics
  • structured and functional biopolymer scaffolds for microbial systems
