Developing Solutions for Biohybrid Applications in Chemistry
EST3R Biotech, is a planned start-up of the University of Leipzig that optimizes plastic degrading enzymes for molecular recycling of plastic waste. For this purpose, we are developing a high-throughput electronic platform to track the biodegradation of plastics in real-time and in a highly parallelized manner. Our technology allows us to continuously develop our enzymes via artificial evolution and to adapt them to the desired process parameters for industrial scale.
Project
Molecular Recycling of Post-Consumer PET Waste
ESTER BIOTECH builds an electronic high-throughput platform to find and improve plastic degrading enzymes. Starting with the Polyester Polyethylentherephthalate we develop the most powerful enzymes for plastic recycling, paving the way for cascaded plastic recovery.

Our History
Team of Engineers and Scientists
ESTER Biotech offers affordable technologies to scale electrochemical and electronic analyses into a new dimension capable of being integrated into laboratory routine. It all started with some inquisitive biochemists and enthusiatic electronics engineers at Leipzig University, searching the challenge to disrupt the low-throughput of electrochemical measurements.
We create our solutions by challenging deadlocked structures in life sciences, to scale biohybrid research. We develop our solution to be as convenient and affordable as possible to become a permanent force in laboratory to unveil the traits of nature.
