b-ACTmatter Workshop “Sustainable Chemistry” I 15.06.2023 I 10:00 – 17:00

How does chemistry transition toward biobased sustainability and a circular economy?

Chemistry is a key to sustainable transformation: On the one hand, it is a cause of problems such as environmental pollution or damage to health; on the other hand, chemistry is indispensable for human well-being because it offers diverse solutions for a wide range of areas such as health, nutrition, and functional materials and products such as plastics.

Sustainability in and with chemistry needs networked action of actors from science and industry to develop future-oriented innovative biobased products, production, and recycling technologies that are safe, sustainable, and resource-saving, thus strengthening the economy in Leipzig / Central Germany.

We therefore cordially invite you to our workshop “Sustainable Chemistry”, a joint event with the IHK zu Leipzig

on June 15, 2023, 10:00 – 17:00, at the BBZ / Bio City Leipzig.

Based on the technologies developed at the Research and Transfer Centre for Bioactive Matter of Leipzig University in cooperation with the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research UFZ.

  • Photo and Industrial Biotechnology for the production of plastics, proteins for animal feed & foodstuffs
  • Electro-Biotechnology for the production of fine chemicals
  • Enzymatic plastics recycling

we would like to discuss the following topics:

a) Include your experience in further development and scale-up

b) Thinking about the needs of your companies and the markets at an early stage

The workshop aims to create a framework for long-term, reliable and efficient research and development cooperation in order not to ‘develop past the market’ and to align the design, functionality and usability of the respective product with customer needs. Regulatory challenges also have to be taken into account.

Have we aroused your interest?

Then please contact us! Please briefly state to which technology(s) you would like to contribute with your expertise:

  • 1 Photo and Industrial Biotechnology
  • 2 Electro-Biotechnology
  • 3 Enzymatic plastics recycling

Registration to the following E-Mail by 28.04.2023 is requested.

You can find the agenda here.

If you have any questions regarding the content, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We would be pleased to welcome you at our company.
