The SFB 1199, funded by the German Research Foundation for a second phase (2020–2023), is a collaborative research centre that examines modern history up to the present day, with a focus on the role of new spatializations in shaping social interactions and social change. The SFB is part of the Research Centre Global Dynamics (ReCentGlobe) at Leipzig University, where it profits from engagement with the many research fields and topics covered.

Yearbook on the African Union volumes 1-3 (2020-2022) now available on open access
Three first volumes of the Yearbook on the AU are now publicly available on the website of Brill publishing. The books, edited by Ulf Engel (SFB 1199 & Leipzig U) cover the years 2020 through 20022.
