The annual winter retreat is an internal event where PhD candidates present their work to the entire graduate school.
During the retreat young researchers at the SFB and from the Graduate School Global and Area Studies report on the results they made over the past year. The organization of the winter retreat – taking place in the countryside outside of Leipzig over a weekend – provides for an intensive work format and an opportunity to evaluate the progress made by the PhD candidates. The winter retreat thus also serves as an instrument for quality assurance as well as networking among young and upcoming researchers.
