The SFB 1199 offers young researchers the opportunity to work in a conducive, interdisciplinary research centre while at the same time taking part in the structured training programs of Leipzig University.

In close cooperation with the Graduate School for Global and Area Studies (GSGAS) at Leipzig University, the SFB 1199 offers its young researchers a wide array of formats fostering their interdisciplinary education and skill-based training in all areas related to conducting, publishing, and communicating research. Research seminars, summer schools and winter retreats are major events of our graduate training programme – alongside working groups and colloquia. Some formats are designed to ensure a common theoretical starting point for all research undertaken at the SFB, and others are geared towards the presentation and discussion of research findings. Moreover, the contact with the diverse group of young researchers at the graduate school supports the exchange across disciplinary and cultural boundaries. The graduate school is also part of the Graduate Academy Leipzig, offering a broad range of additional courses.

In addition, the Postdoc Certificate Programme is offered for supporting the prospects of academic careers for our young researchers.
