Abstract

Seonghhoon Jeon’s will present and discuss his current work at the CRC. His latest book appearing in English will be titled “Antitrust Policy in Korea from an Economist’s Perspective”. The book deals with comprehensive issues on fair trade policy in Korea both theoretically and practically. Previously, Professor Jeon published a book that introduced and analysed the major antitrust cases in which he was involved.

Biographical Note

Seonghoon Jeon (Sogang University, Seoul, Korea)

Seonghoon Jeon, an economics professor, is currently the Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs at Sogang University in Seoul, Korea and served for the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) as a non-standing commissioner during the period 2009-12.

He graduated from Seoul National University in 1982, and obtained PhD in Economics at Yale University in 1991. His major research areas are industrial organization, competition policies and regulation. He published many theoretical and policy-oriented papers in economics journals such as European Economic Review, International Journal of
lndustrial Organization
, Review of lndustrial Organization and Applied Economics.

Professor Jeon has played active roles in both academic and policy areas. He was the president of Korean Academic Society of lndustrial Organization in 2009, and he was involved in many important merger, abuse-of-dominance, and cartel cases in Korea as an expert witness for defendants and interested third parties as well as the KFTC.
