GlobeData – Introduction into the Research Data Repository

Eva Ommert (SFB 1199)

The weekly colloquium of the Collaborative Research Centre provides a forum for presentations by external guests as well as by members of the SFB 1199 within a tailored thematic framework. The format helps to create a common ground for discussion between guests, the Collaborative Research Centre, as well as the wider academic public.

The session will be held in presence, but it is also possible to access it online. To join, please click the button below.

In this week’s colloquium we will take a look at what has happened until this point in the FDM/RDM project in the SFB. This includes a presentation of the newly established infrastructure “GlobeData”, a research data repository for ReCentGlobe. Based on this we will also discuss the FDM strategy for the new application.

Biographical Note

Eva Ommert (SFB 1199, Leipzig, Germany)

Since January 2020, Eva Ommert is responsible for research data management in the Collaborative Research Center 1199 “Spatialization Processes under Conditions of Globalization”. In the SFB, topics are addressed, which are becoming increasingly important in the academic world. For example, following questions will be addressed: What is research data in our humanities and social science disciplines? How should research data be documented – for the researcherers themselves, but also for others? What needs to be considered in terms of data protection? What do after-use scenarios for certain research data look like? How much time and resources must be spent on preparing research data in such a way that subsequent use by others is possible – and when is this worthwhile? Her task is to coordinate this debate.
