The annual thematic summer school focuses on questions of globalization and transnationalization.
Over the years, the summer school has become one of the trademarks of the Graduate School for Global and Area Studies (GSGAS) and is jointly hosted with several partners. It is divided into plenary events (often with the participation of reputable guest speakers) and numerous panels focusing on the most different topics, which are organized by doctoral candidates and offer the opportunity to invite junior researchers from other institutions. The summer school serves as an interdisciplinary meeting point. Although the panels are thematically focused, they often include perspectives on the respective topic from different disciplinary backgrounds and presentations of interdisciplinary projects. To this end, the GSGAS summer schools are a platform for exchange across disciplines.
