This year’s doctoral prizes in the life sciences went to 2 outstanding researchers at the Institute of Biochemistry of the Faculty of Life Sciences.

Dr. Corinna Schüß was awarded for her dissertation “Exploring the Neuropeptide Y4 Receptor from an Orthosteric and Allosteric Perspective” (submitted in 2022) and Dr. Anne Sophie Czerniak for her thesis “Extra- and Intracellular Interactions of the Chemerin Receptor Family” (submitted in 2023). The doctorates took place within the DFG-funded CRC 1423.

Every year, Leipzig University honors outstanding dissertations with doctoral prizes for excellent young scientists.
The doctoral prizes not only honor an outstanding dissertation with the predicate grade summa cum laude, but also take into account exceptional scientific contributions such as new findings, scientific visibility through publications and lectures as well as the social relevance and transfer of the research results into practice.

The award ceremony took place on the day of the doctorate, November 12, 2024, at the Villa Tillmanns in Leipzig.
