Project Z01 – Central Administration

The General Administrative Project covers the expenses for activities related to management of the CRC, including organization of gender-issue related measures. These activities are complementary to the existing support and structures at the participating locations of the CRC and are specifically adjusted to its needs. Organization of membership meetings, external workshops and all administrative tasks are associated to Z01.

Mercator Fellow

Over the last 15 years, a very extensive scientific collaborations with the Vanderbilt University in Nashville has been established and supported by the Max Kade Foundation with several leading groups in the (GPCR) signaling field. Bridging both sites was mainly organized and maintained by two Project Leaders Annette Beck-Sickinger and Jens Meiler. This collaboration will be extended within the IRTG as well as by the Mercator fellows of Prof. Dr. Vsevolod Gurevich and Prof. Dr. Hassane Mchaourab, both from Vanderbilt University.

International exchange is a normal mode of successful research in the 21st century. Over the last 15 years, very extensive scientific collaborations between Vanderbilt and Leipzig Universities have been established.

Key elements of this ongoing collaboration are scientific exchanges of students, postdocs, and Project Leaders for extended periods of time to conduct research, learn new methods, and teach scientific courses. So far, 47 teaching modules have been taught by Project Leaders at the respective partner university, typically extending over 2 weeks including practical hands on sessions. We would like to emphasize that this exchange took place on all academic levels involving 55 undergraduate students, 37 graduate students, 19 postdoctoral researchers, and 66 Project Leaders. In the course of time this has resulted in 71 corporative scientific papers.
